All students are required to take a PBTS administered English exam on their first
term of studies. The exam consists of three parts: grammar and vocabulary, aural comprehension and essay.
The general average on the test scores will assess the student’s English proficiency
level. It will determine the degree program one is qualified to undertake based on the following scale:
85% or above: any three-year Master’s degree
81-84%: any one-year or two-year Master of Arts degree
75-80%: any Bachelor’s degree
74% and below: audit (no credit); mandatory enrollment in English as a
Second Language until qualified as a credit student.
Those who miss taking the exam on their first term of studies will be classified as
audit students only; hence, classes taken on that term will have zero ( 0 ) credit. (Campus housing can be allowed for ESL students.)
If the desired average is not reached, the student can take the exam again up to two
times in order to qualify for admission to a higher degree program. Retaking the exam
is allowed only during the same academic year.
Classes taken while one is qualified for a bachelor’s degree only cannot be
transferred to a master’s degree.
Second and third year students, transferees, upgrading, and others who have not
yet taken the exam are required to take it immediately. Failure to do so will result in
non-admission on the next term..
